Scholarship

The research interests in the Department of Biotechnology are as diverse as one would expect in a thriving research program, encompassing one or more of the following categories: clinical biotechnology related to epigenetics clock (comparison of biological and real age), cancer and kidney diseases, fundamental and applied microbial biology to address viral, bacterial and protozoan pathogenesis, and plant biology to meet the challenges of alternative green energy and food sources. Our research contributions through journal publications have been significant, leading to patents.

Our faculty members are well equipped to provide outstanding training to Ph.D. students. The department of Biotechnology offers Doctoral degrees in various fields of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.

Ph.D. Biotechnology offered by the Department of Biotechnology has been accredited by NBA in 2018 and 2023.
The Department has highly qualified teaching faculty with Doctoral and M.Tech qualifications in different areas of Biotechnology viz. Epigenetics, Genomics, Environment Toxicology, Plant Biotechnology, Virology, Bioremediation, Bioinformatics, Synthetic Biology, System Biology etc.
Faculty members are consistently involved in quality research. Their dedicated efforts have resulted in more than 400 publications in National and International journals of high repute.
The Department has a wide range of laboratories with high end equipment i.e. Cell Biology Lab, Microbiology Lab, Fermentation Technology Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Environment Biotechnology Lab and Bioinformatics Lab.
MoUs with leading Research Organizations of India and highly reputed industries to undertake collaborative projects and bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.
To promote innovation, entrepreneurship and foster startup ecosystem incubation centres are well established.
Ph.D. programs include coursework to ensure students have a strong foundation in relevant scientific principles, methods, and ethical considerations.
Department offers multidisciplinary Ph.D. programs by encourage collaboration across different disciplines i.e. chemistry, physics, engineering, and other related fields.
