The Biotechnology Department began its operations at FET under MRIIRS in 2002. The Department operates at the NAAC 'A++' grade institution MRIIRS which functions as a Deemed-to-be-University according to Section 3 of the UGC Act (1956).
The Department of Biotechnology provides academic programs which include B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Biotechnology. Our institution presents educational programs which include B.Sc and M.Sc Microbiology courses. The Department's doctoral program provides Ph.D degrees to study various aspects of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
The teaching staff of B.Tech biotechnology course at the department consists of highly qualified faculty members who hold Doctoral and M.Tech degrees in various Biotechnology disciplines. The faculty members demonstrate consistent dedication to conducting quality research. Through their committed work the faculty members have published over 400 articles in National and International journals which have high academic standing.
The biotechnology sector receives substantial financial investments through various areas which include biopharma and agri-biotechnology and diagnostics and horticulture and food science together with Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Department of Science & Technology (DST) initiatives.
The department operates multiple laboratories including Cell Biology Lab and Microbiology Lab and Fermentation Technology Lab and Molecular Biology Lab and Environment Biotechnology Lab and Bioinformatics which maintain state-of-the-art HPLC and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy and IR Spectroscopy instruments as well as Fermenters Gel Doc System and PCR.
Our program for B Tech in Biotechnology in Delhi aims to create competent Biotechnologists who will implement advanced processes to transform the current agricultural and industrial environments as well as healthcare systems and environmental restoration programs for sustainable societal benefits.

The Department of Biotechnology received NBA accreditation for its B.Tech Biotechnology program in 2018 before receiving the same accreditation again in 2023. The department maintains a global relationship with the University of Nottingham which allows students to earn a B.Tech Biotechnology degree from MRIIRS Faridabad and a B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology degree from the University of Nottingham. The department operates a contemporary research facility named ‘Molecular Biosciences Research Lab’ which supports advanced studies in molecular biology animal biotechnology and enzyme technology as well as associated disciplines.
B.Tech Biotechnology offered by the Department of Biotechnology has been accredited by NBA in 2018 and 2023.
Department has an international collaboration with the University of Nottingham, England. Students will be awarded degree in B.Tech Biotechnology from MRIIRS, Faridabad and BSc Hons Biotechnology for B.Tech students.
The department also houses a state-of-art research level laboratory ‘Molecular Biosciences Research Lab’ for advanced research in molecular biology, animal biotechnology, enzyme technology and other allied areas.
The department has another center of excellence-Manav Rachna Centre For Medicinal Plant Pathology (MRCMPP) with the aim to promote, develop and provide innovative eco-friendly products, technologies and solutions to address the pathological problems and challenges in the area of Medicinal Plants.
