Curriculum
The BCA programme at the School of Computer Applications (SCA), MRIIRS, follows a semester-wise Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), offering students the flexibility to tailor their academic path. The degree can be completed in either three years with a minimum of 120 credits or four years with a minimum of 160 credits, with an option to exit after the third year. The curriculum comprises both compulsory and elective components. About 70% of the credits come from compulsory courses, including Foundation/Core subjects, Ability Enhancement Courses such as Environmental Studies, Indian Knowledge System, and the Constitution of India, as well as Skill Enhancement Courses like Life Skills, Design Thinking, and Research Innovation Catalyst. Internship or project work is also a required element. Elective courses make up the remaining 30% and consist of domain-specific electives, interdisciplinary open electives, online MOOCs (such as SWAYAM), and vocational subjects. To complete the three-year degree, students must earn 88 credits from compulsory courses, 20 from discipline-specific electives, and 12 from open or MOOC courses. For the four-year track, the requirement includes 114 compulsory credits, 35 discipline electives, and 11 open or MOOC credits. The curriculum is structured to offer both theoretical grounding and practical exposure in the field of computer applications.
