    BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized dental college

    Valid entry test score (e.g. NEET MDS in India or equivalent national test for other nations)

    Educational Qualification

    Must have BDS degree from any registered dental institution or college under the Dental Council of India.

    Qualification Specialisations

    Completion of Internship: 

    Should have undergone one-year mandatory rotating internship on or before 31st March of the year of admission.

    Registration:

    Should be registered with a State Dental Council and should possess valid permanent or provisional certificate of registration at the time of admission.

    Entrance Examination:

    Should have cleared the NEET-MDS conducted by the NBE.

    Should have obtained minimum qualifying percentile as per:

    General Category – 50th percentile

    SC/ST/OBC – 40th percentile

    PwD (General) – 45th percentile

    Foreign Nationals (when and if the case is applicable):

    Allowed to be introduced under sanction of the DCI and applicable scholastic authorities.

    Obligated to seek prejoining temporary DCI (subject to sanction) registration.

    Admission Criteria:

    Educational Qualification

    • Must possess BDS degree from a recognized institution/dental college by DCI.
    • Must have mandatory 1-year internship on or before 31st March of the year of admission.

    • Must possess permanent or provisional registration with State Dental Council or DCI.

    Entrance Examination

    • NEET-MDS mandatory for admission (held by the National Board of Examinations (NBE)).
    • Admission solely on merit/rank secured in NEET-MDS.

    • SC/ST/OBC – 40th percentile

    • Centralized counseling under MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) for seats under all India quota.

    Selection Criteria

    NEET-MDS Score

    Single entrance test acceptable for MDS courses in India is National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS).

    Rank and percentile score based admission in this test.

    Minimum Qualifying Percentile

    The candidates shall have the following percentile cut-offs at least for shortlisting:

    • General (UR) – 50th percentile
    • SC/ST/OBC – 40th percentile
    • UR-PwD – 45th percentile
    • Cut-offs can be relaxed by Government in exceptional cases.

    The candidates are shortlisted in centralized counseling sessions, on the basis of:

    There is counseling in 3 categories:

    • All India Quota (AIQ) – 50% Govt. seats under MCC
    • State Quota – 50% seats under state counseling agencies
